The Crucial Role of Tyre Sealant Maintenance as we move into Spring

The grass is growing, and the blossom is coming out – a true sign that the UK is well and truly moving into the vibrant season of spring. At this time of year, Greenkeepers often find themselves gearing up for the meticulous task of maintaining lush, healthy turf. Amidst the myriad of responsibilities, one aspect that often goes overlooked is the proper care of essential equipment, particularly the tyres on maintenance vehicles.

So, what are the benefits of building the pre-installation of Air-Seal’s premier tyre sealant into your regular maintenance routine? Aside from saving time and money, this strategic move will reward you with numerous benefits that you may not have considered….

Puncture Prevention

Our premier tyre sealant serves as a liquid-based proactive shield against potential punctures, a common concern when navigating diverse terrains. With the arrival of spring comes an increase in grass growth, which in turn leads to a heightened need for frequent equipment movement. By pre-installing tyre sealant, greenkeepers substantially reduce the risk of downtime caused by flat tyres, ensuring uninterrupted maintenance operations.

Increased Lifespan of Tyres

Statistics reveal that regular use of tyre sealants can extend the lifespan of tyres by up to 20%, a significant advantage for budgets. As demands on turf maintenance escalate during spring, preserving the longevity of tyres becomes paramount to minimise replacement costs and keep operations running smoothly.

Time and Cost Efficiency

Greenkeepers face tight schedules during the spring season, with numerous tasks demanding their attention. Our tyre sealant minimises the need for tyre repairs or replacements – contributing to time efficiency. This translates into cost savings, as both time and resources are optimised, allowing greenkeepers to focus on enhancing the overall health and aesthetics of their turf.

Environmental Impact

Beyond economic advantages, the use of our tyre sealant aligns with environmentally conscious practices – especially as our sealant has no shelf life. A reduction in tyre replacements not only conserves resources but also decreases the environmental footprint associated with tyre production and disposal.

Versatility Across Terrain

With Spring comes varying conditions, from damp mornings to sunny afternoons. As a liquid-based sealant, Air-Seal provides greenkeepers with the flexibility needed to adapt and navigate diverse terrains effortlessly. This adaptability ensures that maintenance vehicles can perform optimally, regardless of the weather and ground conditions.

As you gear up for the challenges of spring, there is no doubt that integrating our tyre sealant into your maintenance regimen proves to be a strategic investment. From preventing punctures and extending tyre lifespan to promoting cost and time efficiency, the benefits are undeniable. As grass growth intensifies, maintaining the reliability of turf maintenance equipment becomes not only a practical necessity but also a key factor in achieving a pristine and well-manicured turf.

Tyre Blowouts- Just How Costly Are They?

Truck tyre blow out

Every day we talk to customers about the financial impact of tyre blowouts on not just them, but also on all those around them. The immediate impact is felt by the driver who not only faces the cost of repair to the vehicle but also potential medical costs associated with injuries and recovery, leading to unpredicted and lengthy downtime. The direct costs can quickly mount up and result in a concerning financial impact.

The largest cost of a puncture in any situation – Downtime!

But have you thought about the ripple effect beyond the driver and vehicle?

Disruptions: Delays in day-to-day operational management can have devastating financial consequences on a business. Pre-planned fleet operations suffer when a vehicle is in repair, resulting in delays, missed deliveries and increased labour costs whilst the remaining fleet shoulders the workload.

Downtime: Unpredicted downtime can be crippling for a business, especially if replacement tyres or repairs take longer than expected. Each working day a vehicle is out of commission the impact is felt on delivery schedules or appointments, and could result in potential contract penalties, unhappy customers and negative reviews. Ultimately, downtime will result in a loss of business opportunities and revenue.

Negative Reviews: As businesses, we all strive to maintain excellent customer service reviews and feedback as part of our brand vision and mission. Tyre blowouts can have a direct impact on the customer, causing inconvenience and in some cases frustrations for all when delivery promises are missed.

Higher Maintenance Overheads: Often a blowout is a result of an underlying issue with the tyres or vehicle systems, such as low inflation from punctures or poor tyre maintenance. Unexpected and unbudgeted maintenance costs, coupled with the financial impact of downtime, can have a far-reaching impact on businesses.

Rise in Insurance Costs: An increase in insurance premiums can, in some cases, be applicable as a result of tyre blowouts. If an insurance company considers the incident to be potentially high risk the knock-on effect of investigations, filing claims and disputes (to name just a few) can be costly, time-consuming and highly stressful.

Whichever way it’s looked at, tyre blowouts have the potential to have long-term implications on a business. Whether that be poor customer reviews, rising maintenance costs or operational delays and disruptions, the impact on income and profits could slow growth and financial stability. Persistent tyre blowouts to operational vehicles will, inevitably, question the viability of the business.

The 175th Anniversary of the Dunster Show

Air-Seal Products tyre sealant demonstration at the dunster show

The Dunster Show, situated on the edge of Exmoor National Park on the lawns below Dunster Castle, provides a unique opportunity to see the best of Somerset farming and livestock, alongside entertainment for a fun day out for all the family.

The one-day show has all the family favourites you would expect for a traditional agricultural show including horses, cattle, sheep, a shopping village, and food hall full of local produce. The main ring provided captivating performances throughout the day, featuring Mia Rodley and her Heart of Horsemanship equestrian display team, a falconry demonstration from K & H Falconry, the popular vintage machinery parade, and the Young Farmers tractor tug of war.

This historic event has grown exponentially since Air-Seal Products last visited in 2019. This year we had the pleasure of supporting ARK ATVs Ltd, who have been loyal customers since the business was established in 2000. The local show gave us the opportunity to catch-up with several familiar faces, including Teresa Wort Mindfulness Coach, Rob Hookway from Amherst and Shapland, and Alan & Tracey Gammon who get our tyre sealant installed by R White’s Agri Tyres, another one of our other loyal trade customers.

Air-Seal Products director, Kerstin Burnand, had this to say about the show; “The day has gone so quickly! We saw so many people that we know, and a lot of the other exhibitors are keen to become trade distributors for us. The Dunster Show has grown so much since we were last here so we are definitely glad we exhibited!”.

A Muddy Honiton Agricultural Show 2023

Air-Seal Products tyre sealant at The Honiton Agricultural Show 2023

Air-Seal Products exhibited at one of the largest one-day agricultural shows in the country this month – The Honiton Agricultural Show. Initial worries of our exhibition stand being flooded were washed away by the afternoon as the weather improved and footfall increased.

The Honiton Agricultural Show is run by Honiton & District Agricultural Association – “Where Farming Comes First”  and is held annually on the first Thursday in August. “It is a showcase for the best of local farming, produce, crafts and rural skills.” said a spokesperson for the show.

We had the opportunity to catch-up with several of our trade customers at the show including Denleys Agricultural Engineers and Harpers Feeds. As well as multiple visits from friends enjoying a family day out.

Air-Seal Products demonstrated the benefits of our range of premier products to the community. Despite the rain in the morning, the sunshine came out in the afternoon, and the team thoroughly enjoyed showcasing our products to visitors with our famous tyre sealant demonstration.

Air-Seal Products’ directors, Alex and Kerstin Burnand, had this to say about the show; “There were so many farmers who are already buying our products from our trade customers, such as Mole Valley Farmers, so it was a great opportunity to inform them of our other packaging options for bigger applications. Our stand was in a great location and we will definitely be exhibiting again next year. Though getting the mud off everything will certainly be a challenge!”.

Many locals entered the livestock competitions with their cattle, sheep, and horses, or took part in the gun dog and classic car displays. There were many smiling faces as individuals walked away from the show with rosettes and trophies, the tough competition making the win even more satisfying.

Attendees also had the opportunity to witness Jamie Squibb and his team performing incredible freestyle stunts while enjoying lunch from one of the various food stands offering local delicacies. Other trade stands included handmade crafts and agricultural merchants, machinery, and horticultural equipment.

Harpers Feeds is a long-established family owned business with over 140 years of experience in the rural and farming sector. The president of the show, Rose Chanin, commented on this years Mid Devon Show stating: “It’s been terribly wet, it was forecast, and people have come with raincoats, fairly well prepared for what promised to be a wet day sadly, but I’ve seen people making the most of it. They came prepared, families have been enjoying themselves, getting involved in the activities that have been on offer, going into all the features under the marquees so they can shelter from the rain.”
